However, before his sentence can be carried out, he is kidnapped by the outlaw Harland Rust (Baldwin) who reveals that he is Lucas's grandfather. As the two get to know each other while attempting to reach safety in Mexico, they are pursued by Marshal Wood Helm (Hopkins) and his crew as well as ruthless bounty hunters including Fenton Lang (Fimmel).
