OUR HISTORY: Sociedad Española de Foot-ball was founded in 1900 by a group of students from the Universitat de Barcelona. They chose that name because all the members were Spanish (as opposed to the other clubs). In 1909 the club was restructured and the name was changed to Club Deportivo Español. They’re the fifth longest-running active club in the country. They're acknowledged as one of the sports organizations with most affiliates in Spain. OUR GREATEST SUCCESSES: They’re the fifth club that have played most in First Division, with 86 seasons out of 91 since its foundation. They have won the Copa del Rey four times, the last in season 2005-06. They’ve participated in UEFA Europa League 8 times, reaching the final twice and being runners-up. OUR SCOPE: Espanyol has different teams apart from the men's one. Their women's team is one of the most successful in Spain, winning the First Division league on one occasion, in addition to six Copas de la Reina and five Copas de Catalunya. They also have the RCD Espanyol Special, which participates in LaLiga Genuine, and is made up of teams of the ID collective (people with intellectual disabilities).
