The Strawberry Farm – is an historic novel based on reality. Gustav is the main character who grows up in the deepest poverty in Dalsland, Sweden, in the beginning of the 20thcentury. Being thirteen years old he got work as a farmhand and worked very hard but had no possibilities to put himself out of misery. To be able to make his dream come true, he emigrates from Sweden in 1928 and by chance he ends up in Canada. Gustav becomes Gus and in his new country, new worlds that have been closed, open up. This novel is a time document where Gus is highlighted with warmth and joy but also with sadness and loneliness. We follow him from Sweden, cross the Atlantic until the 1970s through the winding story where his struggle and persistence drive him forward, to reach his goal – a Strawberry Farm of his own.
